Bike sharing via nextbike
Bikesharing is available in LeipzigMOVE with bikes from nextbike. You can easily find all nextbike locations in your area in the app. Try it out and enjoy the flexibility of nextbike with 1500 bikes in Leipzig.
The price is fair and transparent - only €1.00 per 15 minutes or part thereof. Simply complete your profile in the app and book your nextbike.
Pilot project: Your expanded bike sharing service in the north of Leipzig
We are getting the mobility revolution moving. In the north of Leipzig, we are launching an improved bike-sharing service that combines public transport with flexible cycling options. The pilot phase will run until the end of 2025.

Yes, you can rent up to four Nextbikes at the same time via LeipzigMOVE.
By clicking on "Start rental", the lock on the rear wheel of the bike opens automatically. If this is not the case, shake the bike a little until the lock pops open and/or click on "Open lock" again in the app. When you have reached your destination, lock the bike by pushing the lock lever down in the direction of the arrow until it clicks into place. The beep signals that the bike has been successfully locked. This may take a few seconds - please wait for this so that you can be sure that the return was successful. Check the completion of the ride in the app.
You can only return the bike at stations or within the zones marked on the map (in Leipzig: blue/pink shading). If you place the bike in a blue zone, there are no additional charges and you only pay for the time units used. A return in the pink zone will cost you an additional €1. The return stations are displayed in the LeipzigMOVE app. They are marked with an oval blue bike sharing icon with a number on the left. The number indicates how many bikes are currently at the station. You should avoid parking your bike completely outside the zones or stations - unfortunately we have to charge at least €20 extra for this. Service prices may vary in other cities.
Every month until 31.08.2024, we will give you a free quota of 10 units for your nextbike rides in Leipzig. One unit corresponds to 15 minutes.
If a journey takes longer than 15 minutes, you pay the normal rate for the next unit. Even if your 10 units are used up, you can of course continue to travel - at the regular conditions.
As of September 1, 2024, the inclusive units for bike sharing will no longer be included in the LeipzigMOVE GTC. But don't worry: there will be a transition period from September 2024. During this period, the previous free ride quotas of 10×15 minutes per month will remain in place as usual until further notice. We are currently working on an attractive alternative in which we want to reward people for their environmentally conscious mobility behavior.
The free travel contingents were a great way to get to know our multimodal offer. To ensure a fair and sustainable system in the long term, we want to focus on new measures in future that are more closely geared to your individual use of our services.

Bikesharing is billed in 15-minute units - every unit or part thereof counts. One unit costs €1. For example, if you cycle for 45 minutes, you pay €3 for your ride with LeipzigMOVE. Service fees may apply if you return the bike in the pink zone (€1 in Leipzig) or outside the business area (min. €20 in Leipzig). Service prices may vary in other cities.
This is how it works:
Simply rent a bike at a virtual mobility station in the north of Leipzig using the LeipzigMOVE app.
How to return your nextbike:
In the north of Leipzig: Bicycles must always be returned to mobility stations. There are hardly any blue or pink zones in the extended area, and many virtual mobility stations are only visible via the LeipzigMOVE app.
Otherwise the return works as usual - free of charge in the blue marked zone, at mobility stations, for a fee of 1 € in the pink marked zone, 20 € service fee outside these areas.
E-scooter

With LeipzigMOVE, you can always find the nearest e-scooter near you at one of our mobility stations.
For each ride with the e-scooter, you pay €1.00 for activation and €0.22 per minute.
This is how it works:
- Unlock the e-scooter: Scan the QR code on the handlebars or enter the code manually in the app. Tap on "Start rental".
- Drive off: Place one foot on the scooter, push off with the other and press the accelerator lever on the right-hand side of the handlebars.
- Brakes: Release the lever or use the handbrakes on the left and right for a safe stop.
- FlashingSignal your direction of travel with the integrated indicators.
- End the journey: Park the e-scooter on a marked parking space, unfold the stand and tap on "End journey" in the app.
- TipPay attention to traffic rules & only park in permitted places!
How to return your e-scooter:

No, because you are not allowed to leave an e-scooter opened with your account to another person.
Riding the e-scooter under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication is prohibited. It impairs your sense of balance, your reaction time and your judgment. This puts you and other road users at risk.
Always ride sober, do not take another person with you on your e-scooter or leave the e-scooter to another person and wear a helmet for your own safety.
You may only ride your e-scooter on marked cycle paths or on the road. Always ride responsibly and be considerate of others.
The maximum rental time including the paused time is 60 minutes. After that, the ride ends automatically. If you do not move the Voi e-scooter for more than 30 minutes, the ride will also end automatically.
Please report any accidents, collisions, damage, bodily injury, stolen or lost vehicles to the LeipzigMOVE hotline at E-Scooter (+49 341 492 1000). In the event of damage, you must contact us by telephone to find out whether you can continue your journey.
You must also report an accident involving personal injury, property damage or other damage to third parties to the local police immediately. This also applies if the vehicle was stolen while you were driving.
- To get going, stand on the e-scooter with one foot and push off with the other.
- Press the accelerator lever on the handlebars down with your right hand to pick up speed.
- Release the lever or carefully apply the handbrake on the left or right to slow down the e-scooter.
- Use the indicators on the right and left to show other road users where you are going.
- Put the e-scooter back on the stand when you have finished your ride.
To start your ride, scan the QR code on the handlebars or enter the multi-digit code manually in the app and tap on "Start rental". The e-scooter is ready to go.
Make sure that your chosen e-scooter is fully functional to ensure a safe ride. If the e-scooter is damaged, please report this damage to the LeipzigMOVE hotline at E-Scooter (+49 341 492 1000). Customer support will let you know whether the e-scooter is still roadworthy.
To end the journey, park the e-scooter properly in a marked parking space, tap on "End" in the bottom right-hand corner of your active booking and then on "End journey". If you have any problems ending the ride, please call the LeipzigMOVE hotline at E-Scooter (+49 341 492 1000).
You do not need a driver's license to ride an e-scooter (scooter) in Leipzig. However, to be able to rent an e-scooter from LeipzigMOVE, you must be at least 18 years old. Also make sure that you are fit to drive.
All journeys with Leipzig e-scooters must end at a designated e-scooter parking area. The stations (mobility stations) are shown on the map in the LeipzigMOVE app. They are marked with a purple e-scooter icon.
Please note that parking e-scooters outside the stations is not permitted and will be penalized with a €25 fine. In addition, the journey cannot be completed, so the price per minute will continue to apply.
The activation fee for e-scooters is €1 per ride. As soon as you start the rental, you pay an additional €0.22 for every minute or part thereof.
Car sharing
We are constantly working to improve our offering, which occasionally means that we have to pause certain features.
It is temporarily not possible to rent vehicles. The car sharing function will be available again in the course of the year and new features will be waiting for you.
Frequently asked questions
The use of a vehicle by another person is not possible. Making your account or a vehicle freely available to friends or family members is therefore not permitted and will result in the termination of your contract.
You can shorten your booking via the app if you are back at the station much earlier than planned. You will then only be charged half of the time price for the originally booked period.
Late return of the vehicle will be penalized with a fine of up to €50. Extend the booking before the end of the booking period via the app or the hotline (0341/4921000) as soon as you realize that you will need the vehicle for longer. If the vehicle has already been booked by another user after you, it is unfortunately not possible to extend the booking in the app. Please call the hotline anyway so that a solution can be found with the next customer. This will also reduce the penalty payment.
According to the overview of fees in the LeipzigMOVE appendix, self-support is €1,500.
Any existing damage that you notice before the start of your journey and that is not yet listed in the damage list in the app must also be reported immediately and before the start of the journey by calling our support hotline (0341/4921000) must be reported. This also includes heavy soiling or missing utensils. Please never use the vehicle if the safety appears to be impaired by the damage found.
